Planning your clinic website

What pages does your website need?

I checked 53 Australian clinic websites for the 8 pages patients use before they book. Here is what most of them miss.

The 8 pages patients look for

Only 2 of 53 sites had all 8.

Your patients look for about, team, services, fees, new patients, FAQ, contact and online booking. The typical site had 6 of them.

Where the effort goes

More sites had a blog than a fees page.

A blog brings people to your site. Your fees page is where many of them decide to book. In the check, 42 had a blog and 32 had fees.

The page new patients need

Only 20 sites had a new patient page.

This page tells people what to bring and what happens at the first visit. None of the 9 psychology sites had one.

On your fees page

Be exact about what it costs.

Ahpra, the body behind the health ad rules, lists vague price information as a possible breach. State the fee, the rebate and what the patient pays.

The pages to check closely

Services, team and gallery pages carry the most risk.

These pages describe results and people. Of 9 cosmetic sites, 5 had a before-and-after or results gallery. Check yours against the rules.

The page the law asks for

You need a privacy policy.

Only 38 of 53 sites had one. The privacy rules ask for a clear policy that is up to date.
